The Family Court of Western Australia is responsible for approving adoptions in this State, a role which it took over from the Supreme Court in 1976. The Family Court holds records relating to adoption dating back to the 1890s. These records are released via officers at Past Adoption and Information Services within Child Protection and Family Support, Department of Communities.
