Access Conditions

People (and their relations) who spent time in 'care' with the Christian Brothers will generally be able to access or obtain a copy of records relating to their (or their relations) time in 'care'. To protect the privacy of people who spent time in 'care' the Christian Brothers may request proof of identity or relation in some circumstances before access to records or copies of records will be provided. In some cases original documents will be made available.

The Christian Brothers Baptism and Confirmation Registers series includes the following items:

• Baptism registers for child migrants who arrived at Castledare in 1947
• Baptism registers for child migrants who arrived at Clontarf in 1947
• Confirmation register for Clontarf for the years 1949 to 1977. This includes the name, confirmation name and date, and sponsor's name
• Baptism registers for child migrants who arrived at Bindoon in 1947
• Baptism registers for child migrants who arrived at Tardun in 1947

Baptism registers may contain name, date of baptism, names of parents, place of origin before immigration, and place of baptism. There are notes relating to birth certificates for many boys.
