Young House was established in Albany in the early 1980s as an emergency accommodation service for young people aged 15-25 years. It was run by a private committee of management, the Albany Youth Support Association Inc. Youth have been placed at or referred to Young House by the departments responsible for child welfare.

Details

Young House was established in the early 1980s by the Albany Youth Support Association Inc. Since that time, it has offered emergency accommodation for young people aged 15-25 years at premises located in central Albany. By at least 2001, that emergency accommodation was available on a 24 hour basis. Youth have been placed or referred to Young House by the departments responsible for child welfare, but referrals are not necessary for admission if youth present in a crisis. Young people may also have been referred by other non-government welfare agencies.
