Indentures (Guardianship) is a series of records created by the Child Welfare Department of Western Australia. It contains records about guardianship and custody of child migrants. The records consist of legal agreements between the Under Secretary for Lands and Immigration (who was the legal guardian of child migrants in Western Australia), and the children's homes, organisations, and individuals taking custody of child migrants in state care. The records include a small number of agreements regarding child migrants placed in apprenticeships.
Access to records in this series is restricted for 100 years to protect personal privacy. In order to access these records, please contact the Department of Communities, Freedom of Information unit.
