The last report of the involvement of the Royal Queensland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty with the protection of children was contained in the Annual Report of the RQSPC 1975-1976. It read:
'Due to the progress which has been made in recent years by the State govt in the development of social welfare, neglected children are looked after by social welfare officers of the Department of Children's Service. In the case of neglect of aged persons the health dept now accepts this responsibility so that when our Society receives complaints with regard to neglect or cruelty to either young or old, it investigates them and where necessary refers them to the Department concerned.'
