The Colonial Surgeon was a position in the Colonial Secretary's Office. The Colonial Surgeon was the chief medical officer for the Colony of Western Australia. The chief medical officer was responsible for the health of children and young people in the State's orphanages, hospitals and mental health institutions during the years in which the governance infrastructure in Western Australia was being established.
