Canning Highway Bethel Home, Applecross, was established in 1966 by Bethel Inc, an independent mission society. It was an Aboriginal education and employment hostel, providing accommodation for up to 12 Aboriginal students, male and female, going to high school in Perth. It had closed by 1982.
Brookton Cottage was a group Home established by Centrecare Children’s Cottages in about 1979. It offered family-type Homes to Aboriginal babies and children aged up to 15 years, often in sibling groups. Bourkedale was established in 1972 as one of the Mofflyn residential services run by the Methodist and then Uniting Church. Bourkedale provided mostly long-term residential care in a home setting. It is unclear exactly when Bourkedale closed, but it was open until at least 1985.
