These records are part of Records of the South Australian Youth Training Centre (1940 - 1999).
This series contains index cards that record information about young people admitted to South Australian Training Centres between 1962 and 1995. State Records of South Australia describes the records as relating to admissions to the Magill Training Centre and The South Australian Youth Training Centre, though the dates of the records suggest that they may also refer to the Boys Reformatory, Magill, and the McNally Training Centre. The cards record details such as name, age, date of birth, religion, ethnicity, height, weight, distinguishing physical features, names and contact details for parents/guardians, date of admission and discharge, reason for admission, court of committal, sentence and where sentenced to, number of days served, details of any absconding, current or outstanding warrants, and the name of the officer or social worker responsible for the young person.
Access to the records in this series is restricted for 100 years in order to protect personal privacy. People mentioned in these records have a right to access information about themselves. To request access to these records please contact the Department for Child Protection Freedom of Information team.
