Adoption Jigsaw provides information and services to people who have been involved in adoption. The organisation was founded in 1978 ‘for the purpose of lobbying for legislative change and more openness in adoption.’ Since 1979, Adoption Jigsaw has had a confidential ‘Contact Register’ for people wishing to make contact with other parties to the adoption (birth parents, siblings or parents, for example).
In 2014, Adoption Jigsaw decided to change its constitution, and establish another organisation in Western Australia, called Jigsaw Search & Connect. Jigsaw Search & Connect is to provide services to people affected by foster care and other separated families. Adoption Jigsaw is to continue to provide services to people affected by adoption.
Jigsaw WA closed at the end of 2023 (VANISH Voice, Summer 2023).
