Case Study 19: Bethcar Children’s Home was a public hearing of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, held in Sydney from October to December 2014. It inquired into the experiences of former child residents at Bethcar Children’s Home, Brewarrina, New South Wales. During the hearings evidence was heard from former residents of Bethcar Children’s Home, as well as representatives from the police, government, and legal representatives.
In November 2015, the Royal Commission subsequently published its findings in the Report of Case Study No. 19: The response of the State of New South Wales to child sexual abuse at Bethcar Children’s Home in Brewarrina, New South Wales. The webpage for Case Study 19 published on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse website includes the final report for Case Study 19, transcriptions of each day of the public hearing, exhibits and submissions related to the Case Study, and a list of witnesses who gave evidence during the Case Study.
