The heritage collection of Deaf Children Australia contains items created and used by the Victorian Deaf and Dumb Institution, the Victorian School for Deaf Children, the Victorian College for the Deaf, the Princess Elizabeth Kindergarten for the Deaf, and Deaf Children Australia. The collection dates from the 1860s to 2010, and includes registers of pupils, photographs, student exercise books, reports, minutes of meetings, financial records, newspaper clippings, and various artefacts and equipment.

  • Registers of pupils/inmates for the institution/college/school and kindergarten, 1861-1994 (containing information about children, their family, and medical notes)
  • Photographs, postcards and negatives showing the institute, pupils, staff, and board members, c.1850s-1910s
  • Records relating to the establishment and management of the Princess Elizabeth Kindergarten for the Deaf, 1957-1973
  • Student exercise books, 1864-1866
  • Newspaper clippings, 1903-2004
  • Reports, including annual reports, 1863-2008
  • Minutes of committee and board meetings, 1862-2010
  • Finance records, 1938-1989
  • Artefacts and equipment, including hearing aids, printer-telephones, commemorative album, medical treatments, and a school blazer, 1890s-1980s
