Access Conditions

People wishing to access records that may contain personal information about them from Boys Town need to make a request in writing and provide photographic identification (for example a drivers licence) or two other forms of identification (for example a bank statement, birth certificate or health care card). The Salesians Province Centre may allow people to amend their records or to attach a statement to their records.

According to Connecting Kin: Guide to Records (published in 1998 by the New South Wales Department of Community Services, see page 136 – 137) the records in this archival collection ‘contain information about residents of Boys’ Town, Engadine. The information in the early records is very basic: name, date of birth and address. Some records contain referral information. The more recent records, dating from the 1970s, for example, have more information in the form of reports, referrals, etc. Quantity: 32 boxes of cards and files.
Other than the information contained in an individual file, there are some related records such as photo albums for more recent years. This additional information is limited, and the albums are indexed or filed.’
