The Salvation Army Australia came into being in 2018 when the Salvation Army Southern Territory and Salvation Army Eastern Territory merged. The Australian Territory Board of Governance held its first meeting in September 2018.
The Salvation Army (also known as The Salvos) continues to provide a range of community services in Australia, including out-of-home care for children and young people, aged care and family support services.
The Salvation Army Centre for Restoration exists to assist anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, deprivation of liberty and/or cultural discrimination by a representative of The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army Australia’s Historical Records Department provides access to personal records of former residents of The Salvation Army institutions across the country. Records are arranged by whether the institution was managed by the Southern Territory (South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia) or Eastern Territory (New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory) of the Salvation Army:
