View of the Aboriginal Hospital, Palm Island Settlement

Details

Description: This is a photograph of the hospital at the Palm Island Aboriginal Settlement. It shows a large single-storey cottage-style building with two front-facing verandahs. The building is set back from a road lined with stones. Several people can be seen standing on the verandahs, and another man can be seen standing in gardens to the side of the building.

This photograph was taken by Edward Michael Hanlon on a tour of North Queensland during his term as Queensland Home Secretary. It is part of an album that contains other images taken at Palm Island, Yarrabah, Fantome Island, and Mona Mona mission. The photo was originally captioned as ‘Native Hospital, Palm Island Settlement’.
