The Methodist Church of Australasia, Dept of Overseas Missions includes a wide range of documentary and photographic records related to the work of the Methodist Overseas Mission in the Northern Territory. The Methodist Overseas Mission ran missions on Croker, Milingimbi, Elcho and Goulburn Islands and at Yirrkala.
This collection is restricted and permission from the Uniting Church is required to access records. To access material from the collection, you will need to write to the Archivist, Uniting Church Archives and Reference Centre. State Library staff can assist you with this.
These records include minutes of various committees and boards, correspondence, registers, reports, missionary’s diaries and other personal papers, newspaper clippings, photographs, drawings and maps. The records relate to missionary activities in the Pacific region including Northern Australia. As the Methodist Overseas Mission ran missions on Croker, Milingimbi, Elcho and Goulburn Islands and at Yirrkala, the collection may include materials related to these missions.
