Details

The records of Tascare Society for Children, formerly the Tasmanian Society for the Care of Crippled Children, are held by Archives Tasmania. They were transferred to Archives Tasmania with the closure of Tascare in late 2019. They include minutes of meetings, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, correspondence, administrative records, photographs of events held by the society in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and material related to an early 1950s survey of children conducted by Apex Clubs in Tasmania. The records range in date from 1935 to 2014. Although the Society established Wingfield House, the records do not contain client files. The only personal information regarding children that has been identified within these records is in the item ‘Survey of children by Apex Clubs of Tasmania’ (Item Number NS6672/1/16, within the series titled Records of the Society), and in the series titled Photographs of Events (Series Number NS6632), although very few images in this series include the names of those depicted.
