Doris speaks about her mother, Molly who walked 1600 km to Jigalong, W.A. from Moore River Settlement in 1931 after being removed from her mother at Balfour Downs Station. In 1941, Molly was returned to Moore River with her daughters Doris and Annabelle but again walked back to Jigalong with Annabelle. Doris had to be left behind at Moore River, and was later taken to Roelands Mission where she stayed until the age of 18. She talks about her experiences at Moore River and Roelands, her return to her family, and the on-going effects of separation on her family. Doris also talks about her book 'Follow the rabbit-proof fence' and the film that is based on it.
