[From the National Library of Australia's 'Bringing them home oral history project']
Gerard Warber, a military mapper, photographer and Indigenous separated child, born 1932, North Fremantle, W.A., speaks about his mother and maternal grandmother who were both separated children, and about his father. He was removed from his family on Mogumber Mission, W.A. at the age of 2 and placed at Sister Kate's Children's Home in Perth. He describes the living conditions at Sister Kate's where he remained until the age of 17. Warber also talks about the loss of his Aboriginal culture, and expresses his views on the need for an apology and the need for assistance for those who still cannot cope with their alienation from both cultures.
