Disability Services Amendment Act 1999, Western Australia

Details

The Disability Services Amendment Act 1999 was passed on 25 November 1999. This Amendmend strengthened the reporting requirements on service providers. The following matters were to be reported to the Ministerial Advisory Council for Disability Services: deaths, ‘significant physical or psychological harm’, including neglect that might cause that harm; and any assault (including sexual assault). Special provisions were also made in relation to a child or a ‘child in need of care and protection’ as defined by the Child Welfare Act 1947. This facilitated the involvement of the department responsible for child welfare.
