November 2010 updates
This month Pathways has some new entries about children’s institutions in Victoria. We have added some brief entries about a number of homes run by the Children’s Protection Society and the St John of God Brothers. Other new ‘care provider’ entries include Forest Hill Emergency Kindergarten, Beth-el Children’s Home and the Heather Anderson Home.
We know that we still haven’t managed to create an entry for every institution in Victoria, but we are plugging away! Please do get in touch with the team if you notice any homes/organisations missing.
We have expanded the entry about the Stolen Generations, and added a couple of new entries about Informal placement of Aboriginal children and the Records of the Stolen Generations. Did you know that there is a new service in Victoria for the Stolen Generations? Connecting Home had a launch in October 2010 to show off its new premises in Collingwood.
The new images this month on Pathways include some photographs from Orana that we came across in the 1959 PhD thesis of Keith Mathieson (superintendent of Orana from 1952 to 1972).
