This website relates to the 'On their own' exhibition which was a collaboration between National Museums Liverpool, UK and the Australian National Maritime Museum. The exhibition toured museums in Australia between 2010 and 2014.
'On their own' aimed to bring the children's experiences to life with photographs, written and audio memories and other memorabilia such as suitcases and ships' menus. These were put into an historical context, with information about the policies, people and events that influenced child migration practices. The online web resource includes photographs, oral histories, and links to other sources. This exhibition is no longer running.
