Description
QUENTIN DEMPSTER: The abuse of young people in institutions can do more than ruin young lives.
Once it's exposed, the way it is handled, or mishandled, can ruin the lives of those adults who are held to have not acted properly.
Well, that's today.
40 or 50 years ago, though, it wasn't like that.
The abuse was unreported, the perpetrators were unafraid, many organisations were unresponsive.
Sharon O'Neill reports on the harrowing history of the Parramatta girls home and a chance for some of its former inmates to show they have survived, despite the brutality they experienced in their young lives.
