Admission Registers (1880 - 1979)

St Joseph's Girls' Home


The Admission Registers from St Joseph's Girls' Home comprise three volumes. The amount and detail of the information recorded in the Admission Registers varies. The first volume (1880-June 1964) records: child's name; date of birth; date of admission; religion and date of removal. The second volume (April 1959-January 1970) records: child's name; date of birth; date of admission; last school attended and class enrolled in. The third volume (1971-79) records: child's name; date of birth; date of admission; name of person or institution seeking admission; last school attended; date of discharge and name of person to whom discharged.


Access Conditions

Physical access to the original records is not possible due to their fragility and the need to protect the privacy of others mentioned in the records.


These records were transferred to CatholicCare Adoption Services Bankstown in January 2013. All written and telephone requests for access should be made to CatholicCare Adoption Services.
