Ledgers (Trust Account) are volumes where the Board for the Protection of Aborigines recorded information about moneys held in trust for Aboriginal people, apparently those under apprenticeship. The following information is recorded, the individuals name, credit and debit columns which detail moneys in and out of the account, interest, date of the transaction and the balance of the account.
These records are Open access. To access these records please contact State Archives NSW.
The ledger is arranged alphabetically under the name of the individuals concerned; and the name of the person to whom they are apprenticed is frequently noted. Occasionally there are annotations on the pages, including who the person was working for or apprenticed to, when the person finished their apprenticeship, and when and where they died.
There is an index in the front of these volumes. Some of the individuals from these volumes also appear in the Salary Registers (Trust Accounts) series (NRS 20), and the Trust Account Ledger series (NRS 17141).
