These records are part of Records of the Australian Red Cross Society, South Australian Division (1925 - 1984).
These minute books of the Junior Red Cross Home are foolscap sized notebooks with typed minutes pasted in. They cover the dates 29 October 1925 – 22 March 1929, and 17 May 1929 – 31 July 1935.
Researchers can have access to documents, photographs, recordings and transcripts held at the State Library of South Australia on presenting their Readers Ticket. Readers Tickets are available from the Library. Records, recordings and transcripts can only be used in the Somerville Reading Room and are not available for borrowing.
Access to some material at the State Library may require written permission from the person or organisation that deposited the records.
As well as entries regarding general running of home, the minute books includes reports and/or minutes of the Admission Committee. These provide lists of names of children under headings such as (1) Children present in the home, (2) Children requiring indefinite period, (3) Children to be discharged, (4) Children recommended by matron to have extended time in home, (5) Approvals made previously but not admitted, (6) Cases deferred, (7) Fresh applications. Often admission information includes an address, dates and some details of admission for each child. Matron’s reports, also included in minutes, occasionally give details about medical treatment of individual children.
