The Mental Health Act 1977 (Act No.24/1977) was passed on 12 May 1977. Its full title is 'An Act to make provision for the treatment and protection of persons who are mentally ill; to make provision for the care, treatment and protection of persons who are mentally handicapped; to amend the Mental Health Act, 1935; and for other purposes'. This act was repealed by the Mental Health Act 1993, commencing on 10 March 1995, and had several amendments.
