The Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania formed in 1987 following a recommendation by the Arthur Young Review of Services that the Society for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb be split into two. In 2012, the purpose of the organisation is to increase the mobility of people who are blind or vison impaired. This may include providing them with a guide dog.
