Miralee Reception Centre records

The Miralee Reception Centre records held by the Victorian Government comprise a number of records series with information about children who stayed at Mildura/Miralee Reception Centre and the departmental administration of the institution.

Access Conditions

Restricted Access – Records containing personal or private information about children are closed to public access for a period of 99 years. Care Leavers (and their families) can apply for access to records via the Care Leaver Records Service.

Records

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing holds a number of records series with information about residents of Miralee Reception Centre and the departmental administration of the institution.

The collection includes:

• Admissions, discharges, weekly census and placements, 1964-1986 (Public Record Office Victoria registration number VPRS 17952)
• Child case history files, 1977-1991, 1986-1994 (Public Record Office Victoria registration number VPRS 17951)
• Intake Assessment and Treatment Files (case management files specific to Lang Kal Kal and separate to the Department’s green coloured Male Trainee Case History Files) , 1970-1992 (Public Record Office Victoria registration number VPRS 17957)
