Malmsbury Youth Training Centre records

Malmsbury Youth Training Centre records held by the Victorian Government is an archival collection held by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, which was described in the 2016 publication, Finding Records.

Access Conditions

Restricted Access – Records containing personal or private information about children are closed to public access for a period of 99 years. Care Leavers (and their families) can apply for access to records via the Care Leaver Records Service.

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing holds a number of records series with information about trainees and clients at Malmsbury and the departmental administration of the institution.

• Youth Welfare Division Turana record cards (Baltara Reception Centre, Turana / Malmsbury / Langi Kal Kal Youth Training Centres), 1961-1990 (Public Record Office Victoria registration number VPRS 17863)
• Redevelopment plans for youth training centres (includes Winlaton and Turana youth training centres, Melbourne Juvenile Justice Centre and Parkville Youth Residential Centre), 1993-2001 (Public Record Office Victoria registration number VPRS 17986)
