'Are we Family? And if so, Can I still Sue You?' explores the role of a child care institution as 'parent' and how the law should respond if that 'parent' harms the child in its care. The author uses Sister Kate's Children's Home to discuss the issues, and gives an account of Western Australian legislation and policies that impacted on Aboriginal people and how these influenced the existence of and practices at Sister Kate's.
