'General instructions' is a digital image of a photocopied item that is held in the Collie Estate child homes closed file at the Salvation Army Heritage Museum WA. The item gives instructions about how to discipline children in accordance with 'State Children Regulations'. A handwritten caption in the file indicates that the instructions are an excerpt from a 'Punishment Book'. The item is undated. The State Children's Department was not established until 1907 and the Salvation Army's institutions in Collie had closed by 1920, giving the item a practical date of 1907-1920.
‘General Instructions’ makes reference to the State Children Act 1907 regulations about punishment of children in industrial schools and orphanages.
