Ladd House

Ladd House, run by Dr Barnardo’s in Australia, opened in 1966 at Normanhurst. It operated as a family group home for older girls. Ladd House opened on the same site that Green Wood had previously been on. It closed in 1976.

Temporary Family Care

Temporary Family Care is a crisis and respite foster program run as part of Dr Barnardos in Australia. This program opened at the Waverley Centre in 1978; Auburn in 1984, Penrith in 1989 and Canberra and Illawarra in 1990.

Illawong was established by Dr Barnardo’s in Australia in 1962 in Keiraville. It was operated as a family group home for British child migrants and could accommodate 12 children. Atherstone House was a family group home for boys and girls at Cronulla that was operated by Dr Barnardo’s Home (Australia branch) from 1962 until 1966, and by Dr Barnardos in Australia from 1966 until 1977.

Rickard House

Rickard House was opened by Dr Barnardo’s in Australia in 1962 at West Ryde as a family group home. It later became a home for student adolescents. It closed on 30 January 1982.
