Cairns Family Group Home, in Freshwater, was operated by the Uniting Church. Opening on 1 August 1980, its funding ceased in 1981/82. It reopened in 1982/83 and finally closed in 1997.
In 2001 Cairns Family Group Home Freshwater was being used as an Out of Home Care Office for the Foster and Kinship Care program, North Queensland
