Grosvenor Centre

Details

The Grosvenor Centre was the new name for the Grosvenor Hospital at Summer Hill. It was a residential institution for adults and children with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric illnesses. It was run by the Department of Health until 1989 when it was transferred to the Department of Community Services. In the 1998 the NSW Government announced that residential care models for people with disabilities were out-dated and all current residential accommodation would close by 2010. In 2001 the Grosvenor Centre was transferred to the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care. In the 2008-2009 financial year the 20 remaining residents were transferred to purpose-built houses and the institution was closed.
