Roslyn Hall Children's Home

Details

Roslyn Hall Children’s Home was part of the complex of homes operated by the Society for Providing Homes for Neglected Children at 85-89 Cameron Street, Rockdale. In addition to taking in children, assistance was given to single parent families. In the 1970s the Home was providing residential care for 20 children. In 1976 it was closed as a children’s home and converted to a child care centre.

In the 1970s, as society changed, out of home care for children became less fashionable. The Society for Providing Homes for Neglected Children and the Sydney Rescue Work Society, working in partnership, closed its residential care facilities and became specialist providers of child care. In 1976 the Children’s Home was closed as a residential facility. It then became part of the Sydney Rescue Work Society’s child care operations. In 2000 Sydney Rescue Work Society changed its name to Communicare and then in 2011 to Integricare. In 2012 the Roslyn Hall Children’s Home building was part of Integricare Children’s Centre Rockdale.
