The Master and Servant Act 1856 has the full title ‘An Act to amend the Law relating to Masters, Servants, and Apprentices ‘(Act no.19 Vict. No.28). This legislation covers regulation around the abandonment or misconduct of apprentices, and the misconduct of employers towards apprentices. It also stipulates the power of parents, guardians or Justices to remove children from apprenticeships. It was repealed in 1986 by the Industrial Relations Act 1976 (Act no. 1976/73).
As well as being a principal act, this act amended the Apprenticing of the children of the Queens Orphanage Schools 1838 (Act 2 Vict. No. 27).
