Cockburn House was a service that began in 1989 as part of the Youth Supported Accommodation Program, which was a sub-program of the Commonwealth/State funded Supported Accommodation Assistance Programme (SAAP). It was established and run by the Cockburn Youth Services Association.
In 1989, the service was located in the municipal area of Cockburn, possibly in the suburb of Coolbellup. At that time, it was described as having a 24-hour emergency accommodation service, with rostered staff. Young people could be assisted to find longer term accommodation in the area. In its annual report, 1989, the Department for Community Services (Signposts, 2004, p.601) wrote that Cockburn House was 'being well used, enabling young people to stay in their local environment.'
Cockburn House closed in 1993.
