The Uniting Church Child and Family Care Services emerged in 1977 taking over the role of the Methodist Homes for Children as well as the broader responsbilties for Mogumber Training Centre and Sister Kate’s Children’s Cottage Home. In 1978 it was part of the Uniting Church Caring Services, which also included aged care and various outreach and non-residential social welfare programs. The Uniting Church Child and Family Care Services became the Mofflyn Child and Family Care Services in 1984.
‘Uniting Church Child and Family Care Services’ was the name given to the group which ran Uniting Church Children’s Homes after the June 1977 union of the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian churches in Western Australia.
The Mofflyn Group, Sister Kate’s Home, and the Mogumber Training Centre were the three agencies offering out of home care to children in WA under the banner of the Uniting Church Child and Family Services.

In 1980, Sister Kate’s Child and Family Services was formed to run the Sister Kate’s and Mogumber services, cottage Homes and Hostels. The Mofflyn Group ran all other Homes, hostels and services – including foster care and the four ‘Mofflyn’ children’s cottages on a campus in East Victoria Park.
