This series contains letters sent by the Under Secretary of the Department of Public Instruction relating to the administration of public schools in New South Wales. Some of the letters relate to the state-run orphan schools and reformatories, and relate to the admission of children to these institutions and the apprenticeship of children in the reform schools. They also cover more administrative matters, such as staffing, fees, school boards, and examinations. These letters are held by Musems of History NSW (State Archives).
