Canowindra Girls' Home
This Register, comprising of one volume, records: the name, date of birth and religion of the child; the name, address, occupation and description of the parents; the name, address, occupation and description of any person other than parents from whom or to whom the child was received or delivered over; date child was received; date child was handed over; particulars of arrangements made by the mother for the care of the infant; amount agreed to be paid per week for the child's maintenance and by whom.
Former residents and clients can access information about themselves after providing proof of identity. Access to information may be given to a third party providing they have written permission from the person to whom the information relates, can prove a connection with that person, or show evidence that the person is deceased. All other applications for access will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Access to information about adoptions is subject to the provisions of the NSW Adoption Act 2000.
