The Home Secretary's Office in Queensland was the new name given to the Colonial Secretary's office on 6 August 1896. The Home Secretary administered all matters related to health, welfare, local governments and courts, police and prisons, aborigines, recreation, and other internal administrative functions. In 1935 it was renamed the Health and Home Affairs Department
