Centacare Brisbane replaced the Catholic Family Welfare Bureau. It is the welfare agency of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Established in the late 1950s as a Catholic Marriage Advisory Council, the service has evolved to include relationship, employment, disability, child care and community support. Centacare is funded by the Federal and Queensland governments.
