The Sanatory Station at Point Nepean was established in around 1867. It housed children from industrial schools and reformatory requiring to be quarantined. The Department of Industrial and Reformatory Schools had abandoned the use of the Station at Point Nepean by around 1868.

The Sanatory Station at Point Nepean housed children from industrial schools and reformatory requiring to be quarantined.

Outbreaks of diseases like ophthalmia in institutions led to infected children being moved to Point Nepean, for example in April 1867, when over 100 children travelled on the steamer Pharos from Melbourne to Point Nepean. By mid 1867, 250 children were housed at the Sanatory Station.

The Department of Industrial and Reformatory Schools had abandoned the use of the Station at Point Nepean by 1868.
