'Square gets work - as a city apprentice!' is an item from the Sunday Times. Public opinion and local supporters helped the young man find a job in Perth and a home in Maddington. The item also refers to a letter from an Adelaide schoolteacher who had taught the young man some years earlier, and who praised his intelligence.
