The Anglican Society of St Francis was established in 1937 in Dorset England, being an amalgamation of 2 other brotherhoods. It is a community within the Anglican Church that models itself on the Franciscan tradition of prayer and study, as well as working with the poor. In 1966, the Anglican Society of St Francis established The Friary at Brookfield, a halfway house for young men. The Society also ran Morris House, in Taringa, along with the Anglican Church Men’s Society.
According to a publication from 2003, Morris House, a Home in Taringa for young men aged over 15, was “operated by the Anglican Society of St Francis and Anglican Church Men’s Society” (Boyce, 2003, p.29). The publication does not provide details of how the two organisations ran Morris House together.
