The Theresian Emergency Centre was opened in 1965 by the Sisters of Charity. The Centre was located at Monte Oliveto Convent, Edgecliff. It was dedicated to short-term, ‘crisis’ accommodation for children. The Centre closed in January 1983 when the Sisters withdrew from this area of ministry in Edgecliff.
The Theresian Emergency Centre was established on the initiative of the Theresian Club, an organisation of Catholic women closely associated with the Sisters of Charity.
