Victoria Park Youth Accommodation (VPYA) began in 1983 to provide crisis accommodation for young people aged 18-25 years. It was privately run by a management committee. By 1995 the service had three houses for up to 15 young people aged 12-25 years, offering medium to long-term accommodation. In 2001, the service extended to young people aged 15-25 years and their dependents, focusing on those who were homeless or at risk of homelessness. At that time, there were 16 houses available with capacity for 22 clients and their families. In 2013, VPYA remained open.
Victoria Park Youth Accommodation began in 1983 and was funded through the Youth Supported Accommodation Program, which was a sub-program of the Commonwealth/State funded Supported Accommodation Assistance Program. By 1989 there had been some expansion and a referral service was also offered. By 1995 the service had three houses for up to 15 young people aged 12-25 years, offering medium to long-term accommodation. In 2001, the service extended to young people aged 15-25 years and their dependents, focusing on those who were homeless or at risk of homelessness and supporting them to make the transition to independent living. At that time, there were 16 houses available with capacity for 22 clients and their families.
