In June 1947, a group of 170 children from Britain arrived in Fremantle on the Asturias. They were the first child migrants from Britain to arrive in Australia in the post-war period. The first child migrants from Malta arrived in 1950 - a total of 280 Maltese children came to Australia in the post-war period. In total, around 4,000 child migrants were 'received' by Australia during the post-war phase, which ended in the late 1960s.
