The Foster Care Personal Record Cards are held by Anglicare Out-of-Home Care Services. The records are dated between 1979 and 1981. They are arranged alphabetically by the surname of the child, contain the following information: child's name and place and date of birth; mother's name (including, sometimes, maiden name); father's name; parents' religion; names and ages of siblings; names and addresses of significant relatives; dates and frequency of contact between parents and the child; and post placement information such as reports and consents.
Access to information contained in these records is restricted to ex-clients, or to a member of an ex-client's family providing they have the written permission of that person. Before information is given out it is checked for anything which may cause distress and if necessary a counsellor is called in. People applying to get access to information must provide proof of identity.
