Former residents wishing to inquire about their records should contact UnitingCare Queensland so that an individualised search can be undertaken. Access to some records in this collection may be restricted to protect personal or private information. Requests to access records must be made in writing and personal identification will be required to establish the right to information. There will be no cost to former residents for copies of records provided.
Records held by UnitingCare Queensland include admission registers, day books, admission forms, correspondence, photos, newsletters and other miscellaneous documents. Client files have been returned to the Queensland Government as required by legislation.
The records held by UnitingCare Queensland are patchy and records are not held from all former children's Homes run by Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational Churches of Queensland or Uniting Church.
UnitingCare Queensland received a Records Access Documentation Grant in 2017 to survey the records in this collection and identify information about former residents.
Please note that UnitingCare Queensland holds more records than the series details provided below and is undertaking ongoing cataloguing work on this collection to identify records relating to children's Homes and former residents.
